This buttercream is absolutely delicious and is the perfect filler or topping for cakes or cupcakes. I used this to make a last minute cake for a Hanukkah party and it was just enough to generously cover and fill my two nine inch vanilla cakes.
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick/8 tbsp)
- 4 cups powdered/icing/confectioner’s sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 to 2 tbs milk, in case frosting becomes too thick
In a large bowl, mix powdered sugar and shortening/butter with an electric mixer until well combined. When adding in the sugar, make sure to mix it in by the 1/2 cup so that it won’t fly everywhere.
Add in vanilla extract.
If at any point the frosting is too thick and is sticking to the beaters of your mixer, add one tablespoon of milk as needed. Do not add to much milk or your frosting will be too thin.
Frost your cakes/cupcakes as you wish!
